MY STORY

Hi guys and gals,

My name is Crystal, I'm a size 22+, I have 2 kids and I am in a fantastic relationship, well... as fantastic as they can get!

Anyway, more about business, my story is so simple. I started working on creating The Curvy Jeweller late in 2008 with the aim of launching business mid 2009. I always knew I was going to start a business but was undecided about the industry, so, I fluffed around with a few ideas until I felt the fire burning in my belly. That fire or passion, came in full force when I thought about how difficult it has been for me to find elegant, costume Jewellery that fits. I remembered back to when I once spent an hour in a Jewellery store trying to find myself a watch. I ended up purchasing it from the men's section because nothing in the ladies section could fit me without having to fork out extra money to pay for extensions or alterations, not to mention having to wait for the alterations to take place. So I started asking around to friends, family and even strangers about their experiences in this area and they were all in the same boat.

I know you’re not surprised to hear that, because after my research, I am pretty confident in saying that you or someone you know is in the same dilemma. So was born… The Curvy Jeweller

The key thing I want you to know about me is this - I am in no way, shape or form fashion forward, ask anyone that knows me, I actually have the dress sense of a wet mop (giggles), and I don't want to disillusion you into thinking that I know everything there is to know about fashion and that you should listen to me because I know, that is not me at all. But, where you can rely on me, is in the form of the fire that is burning in my belly which is fueled by the fact that I am focused on providing products that are wanted and needed by so many women like myself who have never been spoiled for choice in this category because no one else has cared to provide in the past. After all the dust settles, the reality is, the product is secondary, I could be selling toilet paper to people that have never used it before and I would still be excited. The pride is not in the product itself, but rather in providing, what to me, is such a simple product that is needed by a section of New Zealand's market that deserves to be catered to.

To the best of my knowledge The Curvy Jeweller is New Zealand's 1st 100% specific Plus Size Jewellery & Accessory store. Yeah, that sounds good!
